Day 1 outline: Start with a scenic drive past the Corinth Canal, connecting the Aegean with the Ionian Sea. Your first destination is the fortified city of Mycenae; visit the eminent Tholos Tomb known as the “Treasury of Artreus” or the ‘Tomb of Agamemnon’, the Lion Gate and the ruined Palace. Continue southwards to the Kinsterna hotel, an impressive Byzantine mansion renovated to its former glory, approximately 15 minutes-drive from Monemvasia. Stay at this luxurious hotel and enjoy the serenity, clean air and relaxing aura surrounding this unique property. Overnight in Monemvasia.
Day 2 outline: In the morning, enjoy some free time to explore the medieval walled town of Monemvasia, the cobbled narrow streets and alleys, visit some of the unique Byzantine Churches and follow the narrow pathway to the ruined upper town on the top of the rock. Visit the Church of Agia Sofia, the only building that remains almost intact in the upper town. We return to Athens in the early afternoon, rejuvenated by the glorious views.
