Stop at the ‘kafeneion’ of Maheri, one of the most authentic and unspoilt Cretan villages for refreshments at a typical before visiting the studio of a known local ceramicist. On your way to Samonas village, enjoy the frescoes of the Byzantine chapel of Agios Nikolaos, before sitting down for a delicious Cretan meal at a family-run taverna – located on a privileged vista point overlooking the valley and the sea beyond.
